Father's Day Weekend

We had a special treat for Father's Day weekend.  Rusty, Romney and Marlie came to visit!  Rusty was traveling this way for business, so Romney and Marlie tagged along.  (As a side note- my camera has been acting up... so I didn't get pictures of some things that I would have liked to document.  Boo.)

Garrison and Marlie didn't waste any time jumping right in and playing together!

Saturday we all went to the Downtown library for a puppet show.  It was an Asian folk story, so they presented it using a type of Asian puppetry.  Let's just say it involved rather large, lifelike puppets and the puppeteers covering their heads in black hoods.  Had we have gotten there on time, the kids would have heard the "don't be scared it's just us" warning- but we had three kids to get out the door!  Inevitably, it turned out to be a little scary for our kids, and one by one they all started leaving the theatre!  Marlie started whimpering, Caroline started crying, and then Garrison stood up and announced, "I've gotta get outta here!"  So we played on the computers and in the courtyard instead.  :-)

Listening to Randy's Saturday afternoon serenade.

Later that afternoon we played at the park in our neighborhood and then enjoyed some Mexican for dinner.  Yummo!

Caroline spent a lot of quality time with her Aunt Romney!

Sunday's excitement was water balloons!  They were supposedly for the kids...  But what's a visit from your brother if you don't have a little good old-fashioned sibling rivalry?  Here's a game of "who can launch the water balloon the furthest."

Reloading...

Garrison getting in on the action.

We finished up Father's Day with steaks and asparagus from the grill and baked potatoes.

Garrison and Marlie really bonded while she was here.  I wish I had the pictures to prove it... he was hugging her and putting his arm around her to walk her across the room- they held hands in parking lots- adorable!  We had a great weekend and we really didn't want to let them go home on Sunday night.  :-(
