The Nashville Flood

We survived the Nashville Flood unscathed, thankfully.  We live less than a mile from the Cumberland River so I was a little nervous after seeing the destruction that it was causing in other parts of town.  Fortunately, there's more of a bank on our part of the river.  Directly across the river from us is Opryland... if you've seen any pictures of what happened there, you'll understand how fortunate we are to live where we live.  Geez.

Anyways, the rain stopped Sunday night, but on Monday afternoon the river was still rising, people on the Opryland side of the river were being evacuated, and I was getting nervous.  We ventured out to survey our situation and found this, less than a mile from our house.

(You probably can't read it, but the orange/yellow signs say, "No River Access."  Right...)

And just to the right of those signs... someone's house/yard.

Just another half mile down the road we found this...

Thankfully, the river began receding shortly after this.  We were very fortunate, but so many families have a long way to go to get their lives back to "normal".   :-(
